Assistant Accountant

Tensator is seeking an Assistant Accountant to join our finance team. The role will provide support to the Financial Manager by assisting in the production of the monthly management accounts for the UK entity and maintain the Accounts Receivable function.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Support of monthly UK Management Accounts and reporting:
    • Monthly journals – creation and entry.
    • Monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
    • Month end reports to be provided to individual departments, as required.
    • Month end closure – General Ledger.
    • Agreeing Intercompany Balances.
  • Support in VAT Returns / Intrastat / EC Sales List / National Statistics:
    • Assist Finance Manager with year-end audit for the UK entity.
    • Provide financial information to internal departments where required and help the departments understand the information provided.
  • Maintain the UK aged debtors:
    • Regular customer contact by phone and email.
    • Chase overdue accounts and reconcile customer accounts.
    • Makes adjustments, handles queries and resolves problems within company guidelines and policy.
    • Forecasting cash receipts.
    • Administering payments by Sage pay.
    • Maintaining and reviewing credit limits.
    • Release of orders on credit hold.
    • Scan remittances and other debtor correspondence to the network.
    • Attend monthly debtor meetings.
    • Use initiative and imagination to achieve targeted results, while promoting customer goodwill.
  • Review and raise credit notes.
  • Process new credit applications forms, including obtaining a credit check using third party software.
  • Refer credit accounts to legal, and obtaining regular updates with the external provider.
  • Maintain proforma accounts.
  • Support other Tensator offices, where required.
  • Cover for the bank tasks during times of holidays and sickness.
  • Adhoc projects as required.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience Required:

  • Proficient technical knowledge of accounting being able to apply acquired knowledge in business environment.
  • Started, or looking to start, study of AAT, ACCA or CIMA.
  • High level of knowledge of MS Office and Excel.
  • Able to display a high level of organisational skills and attention to detail.
