The article “Pitfalls of Construction Safety,” written by Tensator Group’s Head of Business Development David Cohen, was recently published in Safety Outlook, the only online forum that speaks to business safety. The feature article gives insight on construction site dangers, as well as a three step approach on how the construction industry can improve safety measures and eliminate the dreaded “Fatal Four.”

In the article, Cohen outlines three simple—yet effective—steps. They are:

  1. The first and most important step that employers can take is to educate their employees on the importance of safety.
  2. The second step employers should take is to make the workspace as clear as possible by highlighting specific locations within the work zone.
  3. The third step is to go beyond the “Fatal Four.” While the fatal four may be the leading causes of workplace injuries, another construction hazard making news headlines is arc flash. OSHA recommends the use of barricades and the guarding of any location where arc flash can occur.
